Using the Disks utility

You might overwrite any hard disk on the computer.

If at some point you are not sure about which device to choose, stop proceeding.

  1. Tenha certeza de que o pendrive USB que você quer resetar esteja desconectado.

  2. Choose Applications ▸ Utilities ▸ Disks to start the Disks utility.

    Uma lista com todos os dispositivos de armazenamento conectados ao computador aparecerá no painel esquerdo da janela.

  3. Conecte o pendrive USB que você quer resetar.

    Um novo dispositivo aparecerá na lista de dispositivos de armazenamento. Este novo dispositivo corresponde ao pendrive USB que você acabou de conectar. Clique nele.

  4. No painel à direita da janela, verifique que o dispositivo corresponde ao pendrive USB que você quer resetar (marca, tamanho, etc).

  5. To reset the USB stick, click on the Drive Options button in the title bar and choose Format Disk to erase all the existing partitions on the device.

  6. In the Format Disk dialog:

    • If you want to overwrite all data on the device, choose Overwrite existing data with zeroes in the Erase menu.

      Overwriting existing data does not erase all data on flash memories, such as USB sticks and SSDs (Solid-State Drives).

    • Choose Compatible with all systems and devices (MBR/DOS) in the Partitioning menu.

  7. Click Format.

  8. In the confirmation dialog, click Format to confirm.

  9. To make sure that all the changes are written to the USB stick, click on the Eject button in the title bar.

Resetando um pendrive USB com Tails a partir dele próprio

Caso o Tails seja seu único sistema Linux, é possível resetar um pendrive USB com Tails a partir dele mesmo durante a execução do Tails.

  1. When starting Tails, add the toram boot option in the Boot Loader.

  2. If Tails starts as usual, follow the instructions for resetting a USB stick using the Disks utility.

    Se o sistema falhar em iniciar, isto significa que o computador não possui memória suficiente para este modo de operação. Tente com um outro computador, ou encontre um outro sistema Linux, como por exemplo um outro pendrive USB com Tails, para resetar a partir dele.
